Today in England it is Mother’s Day, or more correctly, Mothering Sunday. This is a day that we reflect upon our own mothers and also on being a mother.
I am very fortunate in having a very wonderful mother who has always been a very loving and supportive parent (along with my dad), and has always put the happiness of her children and grandchildren before herself. So, as a parent, I have a great deal to live up to.
For me, motherhood came at 32 with the very much longed for arrival of my eldest daughter, Elizabeth (Lizi). I had previously had three miscarriages and was in dread of never having any children. Another miscarriage and two years later, my son Andrew arrived, followed by a fifth miscarriage and then last, but most definitely not least, my daughter Harriet.
All my kids have now left home, and I am very proud of every one of them.
