Highlighters are the magic wands that will make your face glow and light up. There are a vast range on the market and come in powder and cream forms.
Here, I review some highlighters from my make-up drawer.
SOAP AND GLORY – GLOW ALL OUT
This is one of my all time favourite highlighters. It features Lightscramble luminous pigment pearls which gives this a peachy, shimmery finish. Apply with a brush onto the cheekbones or all over the face for a beautiful glowy sheen.
This is a beautiful creamy highlighter that comes in a stick form. It has a sponge applicator on one end, but I don’t use this as it tends to pull at the skin, so I just use my finger or blend it in with a brush or Real Techniques beauty blender. It is a creamy champagne colour that sets to a powder finish.
ELIZABETH ARDEN – SHIMMER POWDER – NUDE SHIMMER
I actually got this as a Christmas gift last year, and it may have been a special edition. They do have similar products available in their range. This comes with a sponge applicator, but I tend to use a fine fan powder brush to apply. It is a very fine champagne powder that sits beautifully on the skin. Apply across cheekbone, down the centre of the nose and on the cuspids bow for an illuminating look.
REVOLUTION – BAKED HIGHLIGHTER IN PINK LIGHTS, GOLDEN LIGHTS AND HIDDEN LIGHTS
At Christmas I was given the Revolution Advent Calendar and it included these three highlighters. At first glance they seemed to be a little over the top in respect of shimmer and colour. However, once I tried them I was pleasantly surprised by how lovely they were. They are highly pigmented and sheer, they glide onto the skin and are easily blended. These are definitely worth a try, as they are such a reasonable price.
