This month’s Glossybox and Birchbox have arrived. I am trying to decide which box is the best and cancel the other, because two would be greedy, right? I am still not sure which one will be my favourite, and am slightly worried that I will continue to subscribe to both, and have even been looking at what other similar boxes are out there. Oh dear!
Anyway, they have been duly opened and photographed for your information, and I have given everything a go.
NEXT MAKE ME BEAUTIFUL EYE BLUE QUAD
Although this colour palette does not suit my colouring, it is a beautiful quad of deep blues and silver greys. Heavily pigmented, with a subtle shimmer, these would look gorgeous on someone with blue eyes. I go for a more nude to brown palette, but maybe I’ll get a little adventurous and try these colours on a night out. The price is £7.50 which I think is good value.
LEIGHTON DENNY EXPERT NAILS MIRACLE MIST
If you are like me, and are too impatient to let your nails dry completely, then the idea of spraying on Leighton Denny’s Miracle Mist should fill you with joy. Unfortunately, when I tried it, it did not deliver. I followed the instructions, but my nails still smudged, quite badly. I will give it another go and see if I get a better result. It is quite pricey aswell at £12.
STUDIO TEN BROW LIFT PERFECTING LINER
This double-ended eyebrow pencil and highlighter are ok. They are long lasting which I liked, although I found the highlighter a bit hard. I liked the shade of brown, which I felt was suitable for most people. But at £22 I don’t think I will be buying this product again.
THE BODY SHOP OIL OF LIFE INTENSELY REVITALISING FACIAL OIL
This oil I already have – and I am already a convert. It is a beautiful oil that is very light and you only need the smallest amount. Love the feel. Love the scent. Love the way it makes my skin look. Thumbs up from me. Full size bottle is £28 but this will last ages as you only need the tiniest amount .
STYLONDON TEMPORARY ‘HENNA’ TATOO
I admit it. I haven’t actually tried this yet. Not sure that tats are my thing, but this seems like a fun kind of thing for the summer. I’m off to the south of France soon, so maybe I’ll give it a go. A white tattoo might look quite good on tanned skin(even if it’s a bit wrinkly!!) Not bad at £5.99.
BENEFIT COSMETICS DEW THE HOOLA
This is Benefit’s liquid version of their bestselling Hoola bronzer (which I love). I usually use a powder bronzer but I have given this a go, and was surprised that I liked it so much. It was easy to apply and it blended in well. I will definitely be using this again. It costs £22.50 for the full size.
CYNTHIA ROWLEY BEAUTY EYELINER IN BLACK
An eyeliner pencil that is smudge-proof and highly pigmented. Always happy to try a new eyeliner, and this one ticks all the boxes. Good value at £11.00.
BALANCE ME TINTED WONDER EYE CREAM
This eye cream is a concealer and brightener but is also hydrating, plumping and firming. The shade is a little dark for me at the moment, but with a bit of sun, I think it would be fine. It costs £20 and at that price I probably won’t be buying this, but I will use up this one.
PARLOR BY JEFF CHASTAIN DETANGLING LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER
This leave-in conditioner is great. Just spray on and comb through. It detangles the hair and leaves it soft and shiny. Smells good too. Price £17.
KUESHI FOOT CARE CREAM
This foot cream is very moisturising , easily absorbed and not at all sticky. It contins lots of lovely oils and Royal Jelly. One thing though, it does smell strongly of tea tree, which is fine if you like it. Costs £12.
Well that’s that. Do any of you subscribe to Glossybox or Birchbox or do you subscribe to any other similar boxes – I would love to hear what you think of them.
