I have always been a lover of beauty and make-up and being a qualified beauty therapist, I feel I am justified in purchasing the odd beauty related book or two (or ten) to increase my beauty knowledge. The fact that I am not practising anymore doesn’t seem to have halted my obsession with said books.
To write about all my books would, in itself be the length of a book, so I have picked a few favourites that maybe you would be interested in.
RAE MORRIS – MAKEUP THE ULTIMATE GUIDE
This book is so beautiful. I adore this book and her work. A very informative and visually stunning read and was inspirational for me when I was studying for my beauty therapy exams. If anyone reading this is studying beauty therapy or makeup, then I would highly recommend they get hold of a copy.
BOBBI BROWN BEAUTY
I have several Bobbi Brown books, and this one is a great resource for all sorts of beauty questions and problems. One thing I do like about Bobbi Brown, is that she includes different ethnic types, ages and looks in her books. Her examples are of real people and not just women who are already perfect. If that actually exists.
BOBBI BROWN LIVING BEAUTY
Another book from Ms Brown. This book is more concerned with all aspects of beauty and living in today’s world. BB covers skin, hair, makeup, menopause and diet. A great book to dip in and out of.
CHARLA KRUPP HOW NOT TO LOOK OLD
Well any help appreciated I guess. This is actually great for pointing out how subtle changes in makeup, hair and clothes can make such a difference to how we look. As you get older it is sometimes quite difficult to find the right style and it is easy to become a bit lost. A great book for anybody feeling like they need a bit of a makeover.
FACE FORWARD KEVIN AUCOIN
This is a really interesting book from Kevin Aucoin. It is full of celebrities that he has made over to look like other celebrities, with diagrams on how to achieve the looks. Anyone who can make Gwyneth Paltrow look like James Dean is a genius in my book.
EASY ON THE EYES LISA POTTER-DIXON
This is my latest book and it is by Lisa Potter-Dixon who is the head makeup and trend artist for Benefit. It’s full of 5, 15 and 30 minute eye makeup looks obviously using Benefit cosmetics, but could be easily adapted to use other brands. A great book for anyone young who is a bit unsure of what products to use and how to use them.
So there you go, just a fraction of my beauty books that maybe you will be interested in buying for yourself or borrowing from your local Library.
Anyway, dear reader, thanks for giving me the excuse to take these off the bookshelf and revisit them.
Have a glorious week .
