My top 5 foundations…

To have a perfectly flawless skin is the ultimate aim, but having a more mature skin certainly poses problems in achieving this.  The skin is not so firm, has dark spots here and there, dryness and fine lines and wrinkles.  Lovely!  The younger me would definitely worn a tinted moisturiser and kept things very natural and light, but the older me has problem of wanting a light natural look but needing greater coverage.

I have a drawer full of foundations, actually far too many, but here are my favourite five.

L’OREAL NUDE MAGIQUE CUSHION

To be honest, I had resisted buying this because I thought that it might just be a it gimmicky, but I really like this product.  It is a liquid foundation, but it is contained within a sponge, and it comes with an application pad which I did not like, so I use a beauty blender to apply.  It is easily blended and builds well with an SPF 25.  It leaves the skin with a lovely dewy finish.  Also, it has a good sized mirror in the lid and would  be great to pop in a handbag.

CHANEL VITALUMIERE AQUA

This is a gorgeous foundation from Chanel.  This foundation needs to be shaken well before using.  It blends beautifully into the skin leaving it looking luminous.  It has quite a light coverage, ideal for the summer.  It has an SPF 15. It would be a perfect foundation for young skin.

NO 7 AIRBRUSH AWAY

This blends will and is buildable too.  The one thing I am not too keen on is the dropper applicator.  This foundation needs to be shaken well before use to ensure product is fully mixed together.  It gives a medium coverage and leaves the skin looking smooth.  It also has good staying power.

URBAN DECAY NAKED SKIN WEIGHTLESS ULTRA DEFINITION LIQUID MAKE-UPimage

This is another product that needs to be shaken before use.  It has moderate coverage that feels light on the skin, leaving a semi matte finish.  It also comes in 18 shades.

CLARINS EXTRA COMFORT FOUNDATION

This featured in last week’s May Favourites blog.  This has good coverage and SPF15.  It has a silky finish and lasts all day.  I think this is a foundation that I will always have a jar of in my collection.

I think that brands are really producing a good range of foundations these days, with different types of coverage and finishes, so that there is really something for everyone.

What’s your favourite foundation at the moment?

Take care and have a great week.
