As this blog goes out on Christmas Day, I thought I would write about my favourite Christmas things and share them with you.
Favourite Christmas Book
Every year I like to read a new Christmas book to get me in the festive spirit. But as the years come and go, there is a timeless classic book that I always return to. Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. I totally love this book. I have read this book so many times and feel that it is as relevant today as it was when it was first published in December 1843.
Perfect for Christmas, it is a ghost story, a story of transformation and of hope in human nature to prevail against all odds. It really is saying if you give kindness, you will be happier for it.
Favourite Christmas Film
Corny, I know, but Frank Capra’s “It’s a Wonderful Life” is just the best there is. James Stewart is superb as the suicidal husband and father who is at the end of his tether. It is a film that has everything in it. Its funny and sad, and I always cry at the end. Love it.
The Christmas Tree
It’s a bit of joke in our house, but when I say to my children (all now adults) who wants to help decorate the tree, they laugh because they know I like to do it myself. It just wouldn’t feel like Christmas without a tree.
There is nothing quite like the scent of a spicy candle to make the house feel festive. In previous years I have gone with a variety of candles from Yankee Candle and other brands. This year I treated myself to The White Company’s Winter Candle. This is Christmas in a candle. Warm, spicy and fragrant. Gorgeous!
At the end of the day, the family are what make Christmas special.
This year I will be missing my youngest daughter, as she is living and working away. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and that all those you love are with you to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year!!
Lots of love to you all and heres to a fantastic 2017.
