October Glossybox…

fullsizeoutput_513There are two versions of October’s Glossybox – you are either a Mermaid or a Unicorn.  Apparently, I am a Unicorn!

Another great box this month from Glossybox.  Five great products and three brands I haven’t tried before.

fullsizeoutput_515

KAWAII ENTERPRISE BRUSH CLEANING EGG (£7.99)

I have tried this, and it is a fantastic little gizmo for cleaning make-up brushes.  I have always used the palm of my hand to work cleaner into my brushes – this was much more effective.

fullsizeoutput_517

SLEEK MAKE-UP CREME TO POWDER BLUSH (£5.99)

In the shade Crimson, this blusher is so pigmented that you only need an itsy witsy amount to give a very natural glow to the cheeks.

fullsizeoutput_516

LORD & BERRY PERFECT EYE BROW PENCIL (£14.00)

This is in shade Brunette and it consists of two colours marbled together to give a more natural appearance to the brows.  It is totally fine as a brow pencil, but at £14.00, I think it is pretty expensive.

fullsizeoutput_518

BANG BEAUTY CREAM COLOUR (£19.50)

This product, I love.  It can be used on lips, cheeks and eyes, and I have tried it on all three.  The shade is Dolce Pink and it is gorgeous.  I need to check out their other products!

fullsizeoutput_519

MAKE-UP REVOLUTION MERMAIDS VS UNICORNS EYESHADOW PALETTE (£4.00)

How can you go wrong with a palette that costs just £4.00?  It has12 shadows in some gorgeous shades.  Most are shimmer, and there are a couple of glitter shades too.

fullsizeoutput_514

So, that’s it for October’s box.  There is a contour brush included in November’s box, so I am looking forward to receiving that.

Have a great week everybody.

Breast Cancer Campaign Beauty Box

fullsizeoutput_50b

For 2017 the Estee Lauder companies Uk & Ireland released a beauty box to help fund breast cancer research.  The box cost £25.00  with products valued at £91.00.  £15.00 of the £25 goes to support the Breast Cancer Research Fund (BCRF).

I have not used any of the products yet, but I think this is a great value box, and a really excellent cause to support.  If you would like to get hold of a box, you can go to their website http://www.bcacampaign.com.

fullsizeoutput_50a

Jane Scrivner – a review ….

IMG_2949

I have been wanting to try out the cleansing balm from Jane Scrivner after seeing rave reviews from another blogger, Rebecca from Rougepout Beauty (link below), who loved it and as I value her opinion in such matters, I ordered myself the cleansing balm, also the skin elixir and OO cream.

NOURISHING CLEANSER 100ML

IMG_2834 2

This is a cleansing balm that can also be used as a mask or can be left on the face overnight as a skin repair treatment.  It is made from 100% Organic Joboba Oil, beeswax and 9 essential oils. It smells beautiful and leaves the skin clean and soft.  It comes with a fluffy towelling mitt to remove the balm.

SKIN ELIXIR 30ML

IMG_2842 2

A lovely, light oil to warm in the hands before applying to the face.  This oil leaves the skin feeling nourished and calm.  Beautiful.

IMG_2953

‘OO’ CREAM (OVER OIL) 100ML

I have to say, that this a a really excellent moisturising cream.  It is applied over the skin elixir and hydrates and protects the skin.  It is not greasy at all, and seems to work well with the elixir.

I have been very pleased with these three products and will be trying out some more from the range.

I hope October is going tickety boo for all of you.

XOXOXO

Makeup Obsession …

Refillable palette from Makeup Obsession.

20170929_162146

Oh dear!  I really, really did not need to buy any more eyeshadow palettes, but look what is in Boots at the moment.  Build your own palette!  Also a bargain at £2 per shadow.  So it would be silly not too, right?

The main problem was deciding which shades to get.  In the end, I played fairly safe and opted for the following six shades.

fullsizeoutput_4e5

The first shade is a matte shadow E132 Pearl.fullsizeoutput_4e7

This is a highlight shade H102 Pearl.

fullsizeoutput_4e4

This next one is labelled as a highlighter H111 Tropical.  Not sure if I would use it as a highlighter.

fullsizeoutput_4e6

Another shimmer shade E175 L.A.

fullsizeoutput_4e9

This gorgeous plum shadow E169 Antique Lace.

fullsizeoutput_4ee

Finally, another matte shadow E118 Bourbon Brown.

fullsizeoutput_4ea

If you spent £12 you could get the palette free.  The palette normally retails at £6.  The palettes come in either gold, silver, black or pink.  Also they come in two sizes – for 6 or for 12 shadows.

fullsizeoutput_4f0

Left – Right Pearl E132, Pearl H102, Tropical H111, LA E175, Antique Lace E169 and Bourbon Brown E118.

They are great shades and blend super easy.  At the end of the day, I found they had creased a bit, but I had not applied any eye primer under them.

I think this is a great idea for travelling, you can swop and change the shadows to suit your needs.

There is also several contour powders, brow powders, highlighters and strobe powders to choose as well.

Oh dear, I feel another visit coming on!!

Have a great week everyone.

September Favourites…

FullSizeRender 468

CLARINS DOUBLE SERUM

I am a big fan of serums, and I have found that since I bought the Double Serum from Clarins I have been using it every day.  This is a new version that no longer contains mineral oil.  What it does contain is 21 active plant extracts to help reduce the signs of ageing, plump and firm the skin and give it a radiant glow.  It is pricey at £75, but a little goes a long way.   Uniquely, the bottle can dispense two different made-to-measure doses of serum.  The consistency is very light and smells wonderful.

THE BODY SHOP JAPANESE MATCHA TEA POLLUTION CLEARING MASK

This is a quite a “tingly” facemask from the Body Shop.  It is cruelty free and vegan.  You apply to cleansed skin and leave for 5-10 minutes.  This leaves the skin feeling really marvellous and I have been using it twice a week.  I would highly recommend giving this mask a go.

FullSizeRender 469

LANCÔME VISIONNAIRE NUIT BEAUTY SLEEP PERFECTOR

At the moment, I am alternating between Sunday Riley Luna and this in my nightly routine.  This is such a gorgeous product.  It is an hydrating gel that contains micro droplets of oil.  It leaves the skin super hydrated and soft.

FullSizeRender 467

URBAN DECAY NAKED HEAT PALETTE

No surprise here, it’s the most talked about palette of the moment, and rightly so.  This is a brilliant palette for autumn/winter with its mixture of matte and shimmer shades.  Dramatic and subtle looks are easily achieved and this is one hype I’m happy to have fallen for.

FullSizeRender 470

DIOR – DIORSKIN STAR STUDIO MAKEUP FOUNDATION

My shade is 020 and is just the perfect shade for me.  It contains SPF30 and it is a long wear foundation.  It stays looking good all day and is a very lightweight and dewy foundation.  Love it!

I am trying quite a few new products at the moment, so expect some more reviews soon.

Have a great week everyone.

Glossybox – September Edition …

fullsizeoutput_49d

September’s Glossybox is an excellent mix of products, all of which I am happy to try out.

TAYLOR’S 32 NATURAL WHITENING TOOTHPASTE 75ML

fullsizeoutput_4d3

I have not heard of this brand before, but this toothpaste leaves the mouth feeling really clean and fresh.  It is flavoured with fennel and mint, but not in an overpowering way. Whether it does whiten the teeth or not, we will have to see, but as a toothpaste, it gets a thumbs up from me.

SKINFIX HAND REPAIR CREAM 30ML

fullsizeoutput_49e

Skinfix, another unknown brand to me, and it is fragrance free and a pretty heavy duty hand cream.  Perfect if you suffer from skin problems like dermatitis or eczema. A little goes a long way, and it does take about 5 minutes to absorb into the skin.  It is super moisturising and soothing.

MONU SKIN FIRMING FIJI FACIAL OIL 30ML

fullsizeoutput_4d2

Another lovely product from another brand I haven’t come across before.  A lightly fragranced, delicate oil that sinks into the skin.  Looking forward to seeing what else this brand has to offer.

PIXI BY PETRA BROW TAMER 4.5 ML

fullsizeoutput_4a1Delighted to see this in the box, as this is a product I already use, and my own is definitely in need of replacing.  Good product.  Doesn’t leave the brows “crispy” which is a good thing!

STYL LONDON SILIGEL BLENDER

fullsizeoutput_49f

To be honest, I found this a bit of a faff to use.  I ended up applying my foundation with a brush and then using this to finish off.  If you are a fan of applying foundation or concealer with a beauty blender then this may be right up your street.  I prefer a brush and sometimes a beauty blender to finish off.

At this point, I should probably say that also in the box was Kinder Bueno Classic chocolate bar, and I should probably have taken a picture of it too.  Unfortunately, I ate it straight away, and I thought the empty wrapper didn’t have the same appeal!

Have a great week folks

Review of recently tested products…

All of the products in this blog I really wanted to love, if not like.  But unfortunately, they have proved to be less than amazing.

I had high hopes for the DCI C Scape Enzymatic Gel Cleanser, and the first few times I used it I thought it was a good product – and it is.  It smells lovely and it obviously does the job.  But, I found I was bypassing it to use other cleansers as part of my daily routine. I will admit, I am now using it to clean my make-up brushes!  To be fair to the product, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, I just prefer to use a balm or oil cleanser.

IMG_2203

Bare Minerals Original Foundation is a product I loved the idea of.  Something that was actually beneficial to the skin sounded pretty amazing to me.  I have tried this foundation repeatedly with various brushes and including the brush (which I love) that Bare Minerals specifically recommend for this powder, but I really do not like this at all.  It seems to accentuate every pore and leave the skin looking cake and dry.   In fact, I have to remove it and reapply a liquid foundation rather than be seen with it on.  I am sure on a young skin that is practically flawless, then it would work well, but not on my ancient and dehydrated skin!

fullsizeoutput_43b

I have also tried Batiste’s 2 in 1 Invisible Dry Shampoo and Conditioner that was included in a beauty box.  Dry shampoos seem to be really popular with bloggers and YouTubers, but I have to say, they do not make your hair feel good at all.  I have tried this several times, but still end up either washing my hair or putting it up with a clip.  There is nothing wrong particularly with this product, I just don’t like dry shampoos in general.

fullsizeoutput_441

I definitely fell for the hype over the Dior Pump ‘n Volume Mascara.  I was so excited to try this as it seemed to have great reviews.  At first, it did seem like a great mascara, but after a few weeks it became very difficult to get a good result.  It became clumpy and thick and I have just stopped using it in favour of better, cheaper brands.  It is very over priced in my opinion and I will definitely not be repurchasing this mascara.

fullsizeoutput_342

I love Alpha H as a brand and thought I would try the Vitamin C with Grape Seed.  I do use vitamin C products but this one had a rather dramatic effect.  I do suffer with mild (very mild) rosacea especially around the nose and chin, and literally minutes after applying the Vitamin C, my nose went bright red and began to swell.  This was quite alarming and I immediately rinsed it off.  It took two days to return to normal and I was very careful not to use any type of product to aggravate the situation.  Since then, I have continued to use it, but only on my cheeks, forehead and neck.  It is a great product and obviously the problem was with me rather than the product.  Just be aware if you have any type of sensitivity, that you may react with this product.

fullsizeoutput_45d

Well, it appears Summer has now departed and I am sitting here writing this in a thick jumper with a cup of tea.  Hello Autum!

Have a great week guys.
