Hi, and welcome to my blog. My loves are make-up, beauty and fashion, food, style and beautiful things. That just about covers everything! I am a qualified beauty therapist but not practising. I hope you enjoy reading the blog. Follow me on Instagram gailhenderson01 and Twitter @gailsbeautyblog
I ordered a few more bits from Beauty Pie this month, and this is what I got.
This is my second bottle of the Plantastic Micro Peeling Super Drops. Great for refining and smoothing the skin. You can use it every day if you have problem skin – I use it about four times a week.
I like to try new products, and so I thought I would try this SuperBrow Pro-Sculpting Powder. This is a definite NO for me. Very thick coverage and too dark and difficult to use. Possibly more suited to someone who likes a very heavy brow.
I use quite a few retinol products, and so far I am liking this Super Retinol a lot. Obviously, if you are using a retinol product you will need to use an SPF daily as well.
The Advanced Serum-Infusion Biocellulose Sheet Masks I totally adore. They do exactly what they claim to do. Skin is definitely plumped and moisturised and feels great.
I have been very impressed with most of the products that I have bought from Beauty Pie apart from the EyeBrow powder!
My first impression of this month’s Glossybox is that it is full of brands that I haven’t tried before (which, to me is the whole point of a beauty box) and also a really good mix of products.
JUST FOR FEET – JELLY FOOT SOAK 40G RRP £4.99
This is an unusual foot soak in that it consists of two powders. You mix the first powder with water in a large bowl and mix it to form a gel. After soaking feet in the gel for as long as you like, you then mix in the second powder which dissolves the gel and returns to water, then you can remove your feet and dry. Sounds relaxing – must try soon.
MARIA NILA TRUE SOFT SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER RRP £3.98 100ML OR £12.98 FOR 350ML
These look very interesting, and are suitable for Vegans. Maria Nila is a Swedish brand and they are sulphate and paraben free. They have Argan oil in them to fight the frizz.
After having such a great success with Rapid Lash, I decided to try Rapid Brow and started using it on the 20th January 2018.
At that time, my eyebrows looked like this:-
In this photos I had just had them threaded, so they do look pretty neat and tidy.
Rapid brow comes with a mascara type applicator that they advise you to apply twice a day. I have only applied it in the evenings as I found it does leave a bit of a residue on the brows and I didn’t fancy that during the day.
I have to say, that my brows have definitely thickened and grown – in fact, when I have them threaded, I now have to have them trimmed as well, and thats a first for me. This is how they looked a month ago:-
This is how they looked today. I had them threaded, trimmed, waxed and plucked yesterday, and also tinted. In future, I think I will forego the tint as my brows are actually quite dark enough naturally. I think it looks a bit alarming with my great hair!!
To sum up, Rapid Brow, as with Rapid Lash, does work and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is wanting to thicken their brows. I know this is a problem for many, especially if they have been subjected to over plucking in the past.
Cult Beauty, that supplier of iconic beauty brands and products have recently released and collaboration with the equally iconic, Lydia Elise Millen, to produce a box of her favourite skin care items. Occasionally, Cult Beauty do these collaborations with illustrious members of the beauty community, and this one particularly appealed to me because I have already used three of the products (Luna, Cellularose CC Cream and the Liquid Gold). As I love all three of these, I am hoping that the other three products will also be amazing. The box cost £155 – which seems a lot, but these products are quite pricey, so you are actually making a considerable saving. If you purchased all the products individually it would cost £292.50 from the Cult Beauty website.
This product is suitable for all skin types and it delivers minerals deep into the skin. It is a gentle and nourishing and I can’t wait to try it.
I have used this before and it is a great glycolic acid which is fantastic for the skin. A must for mature skin.
I actually bought this earlier in the year after watching Lydia use it on her channel on YouTube. It is highly addictive, as it gives such a natural glow to the skin. I’m delighted that this was included in the box.
Another favourite of mine – I have been using this product for over a year and I absolutely love it.
I am very excited to try this toner from Indie Lee. It is alcohol free and helps balance the skin’s pH level.
I have tried this and it is gloriously illuminating and moisturising. It contains hyaluronic acid to help skin stay hydrated.
It was extremely hard to pick this month’s favourites, as I seem to be using so many good products at the moment. I think this is due to the fact that I have weeded out many products that don’t suit me or that I don’t like or are not value for money.
ESTEE LAUDER ADVANCED NIGHT REPAIR EYE
This is a very light and smooth eye gel that is highly moisturising and absorbing.
BEAUTY PIE PLANTASTIC MICROPEELING SUPER DROPS
A few months ago I joined Beauty Pie and this was one of the products I bought. It is quite a watery consistency and is applied to clean skin, before serum/moisturiser. I alternate this daily with a Glycolic Acid.
BEAUTY PIE SKIN PERFECTOR GENTLY RETINOL MOISTURE BALM
Another Beauty Pie product. I use this retinol product twice a week in the evenings and you wake up with a very soft and smooth skin. This can also be applied to the back of your hands.
LUNA SLEEPING NIGHT OIL BY SUNDAY RILEY
I use this oil every other night, and it is such a lovely oil – expensive, but a little goes a long way and I think it is definitely worth the cost. As with this and all retinol/retinoids, you should always wear a sunscreen during the day. I always use a SPF factor 50 on my face.
CLARINS EXTRA-FIRMING JOUR
This day cream from Clarins is for mature skins (like mine!) It is meant to control wrinkles and firm the skin – well I’m not really sure and cream can do that, but I like it anyway.
So, these are my favourites for this month. What are yours? Do let me know in the comments.
This is a gorgeous blusher, it gives a beautiful glow to the skin and will be fantastic for that summer sun kissed look.
MDMFLOW LIQUID MATTE LIPSTICK SHADE RETRO
If you love a matte lipstick, then you will love this. It is a great shade and once on the lips, its not going anywhere! But, for me it is much too drying – I do not like a really matte lipstick.
AFFECT COSMETICS MATT EFFECT TRANSPARENT LOOSE RICE POWDER
A new brand to me, and this powder is superfine and quite lovely. I don’t tend to use a lot of powder but this is very light and perfect is you have to keep your makeup in place for the whole day.
EYEKO LONDON FAT LIQUID EYELINER
Fat is the word. It is a chunky felt tip of an eyeliner and I like it. Its easy to use and gives a great line.
BOTANICS ALL BRIGHT MICELLAR CLEANSING WATER
This micellar water is in collaboration with the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew and I am looking forward to trying this. Micellar waters are great for removing makeup – I don’t normally use them for cleansing, but they can be used to cleanse the skin if you are in a bit of a hurry.
Every month I think that maybe I should try a different beauty box, but to be honest, I am usually really pleased with what comes in the boxes that I think I’ll keep going for the next few months.
Hope you guys are having a great Spring and the weather is good wherever you are.
Recently, Elizabeth Arden launched a gift with purchase collaboration with Lydia Millen and I am a bit of a sucker for a gift with purchase, so I got myself one.
The gift was free with two purchases, and so I got some of their famous Eight Hour Cream, which is totally marvellous for dry hands and lips, (even though I’m not a fan of the smell), and the White Tea hand cream – together, these cost £32.
For starters, the bag is the perfect size for travelling, of which I am planning to do quite a lot this year, and has a lovely large mirror, which is a rare find in this type of bag. It is fashionably blush pink and has a lining that will be easy to wipe clean. Well done Lydia.
